I'm sorry, MAA

I remember those old summer nights
You used to tell me stories of kings and queens
I remember you used to say
"My son, truth always wins"

I search those days now
but I can't find them anywhere
brushed under the carpet of my memories,
or lost in my childhood dairies

They lay unattened under a pile of dust
As many many light years away
A face in the mirror
becomes unknown with each day

But still your erased voices
sometimes wakes me up from this endless slumber
like windchimes hanging by my eardrums,
words from some bygone era float to my ear

Huh! I have spent endless sleepless nights
to hear you say those words to me once more
Maa, I am sorry I couldn't be the one
As audacious and intrepid as ur folklore

I am sorry i'm a misnomer
wearing a blinder I race everyday
I lie, I kill, I sell myself
only to be here in the fray

I'm sorry I failed to realise your dream
your dreams were too heavy to carry
So i bartered them away for some dough
Only to live life in glittery

inspired by Goirick's 'Oh Maa!'

Good poem..

But still your erased voices
